According to a movie columnist of the Asahi news paper, N.Akiyama, this film is very valuable work appealing us the precious of human life. Recent Hollywood movies show us the stereo type of Japanese character 'HARAKIRI', 'SAMURAI' and so on.
This drama tells a story of Jazz men playing at an American club in Tokyo under an occupation just right after the World War II.
Junnitchiro Sakamoto who was born in 1958 projected details of black markets, prostitutor's feelings and old scene as they were onto the screen. He skillfully developed this rather serious story into a cheerful movie with Jazz music and smiles.
| Director and Script: | Junnitchiro Sakamoto |
| Main casts: | M. Hagiwara as Tenor-Saxophonist Mitch as Trumpeter J.Odagiri as Drummer |
This movie, 'Out of this World' makes me remind that I had been hungry and lived in a poverty at those days when I was under teens. Actually I came across to see this film as I have a fun of Jazz music. Of course we can enjoy Jazz number, Danny boy, Sentimental journey, Take A train etc. etc.
Love it or not, see it for yourself.
